If you’ve visited our practice recently you may have noticed a handful of college-age students being mentored by our physicians. These young, pre-professionals are investigating a medical career by observing our doctors at work.
Up to four undergraduate students per month from the University of Texas at Austin “shadow” our physicians during a typical workday as part of the UT Health Careers Mentorship program.
For students considering a career in medicine, the opportunity offers a close up of the typical activities and responsibilities of a private practice physician. Students get clinical exposure in the specialty of pediatrics and can also discover if medicine is the right career path.
For the Children’s Urology physicians, it gives them a chance to expose medicine to a future generation of doctors while doing something they love to do…teach!
