   Surgery Patients

COVID-19 testing - REQUIRED prior to surgery

Children's Urology offers  in-house COVID-19 testing for our patients! You may also have your child tested at another facility but we must have results from alternative testing facility (prior to your child's scheduled surgery).

What we need for in-house testing:

    • Request access to our Patient Portal (if you do not already have portal access) by calling 512-472-6134
    • Testing must be scheduled with us at least 3 business days prior to surgery
    • Entire household must quarantine in place after testing (no work, no school, no visitors - STAY HOME)
      • If a household member must work, they must self-isolate
    • Children's Urology will call families 1 day prior to testing to review Date, Time, Location, & Quarantine Guidelines

Testing Location:

  • Strictly Pediatrics Parking Garage (5th floor) - 1301 Barbara Jordan Blvd, Austin, Texas 78723
    • Rainy Days - testing is moved to the 4th floor of garage

Test Results:

  • Negative results placed in Patient Portal - Surgery Center will call with surgery arrival time and pre-op instructions (one business day prior between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.)
  • Positive results - Physician will call parent

Telemedicine

What is telemedicine?
Telemedicine allows you to discuss symptoms, medical issues, and more with a healthcare provider in real-time using a computer, iPad, or phone to connect with your provider. Using telemedicine, you can receive a diagnosis, learn your treatment options, and make a treatment plan.

How do I connect?
You will receive a link/invitation to connect with your provider from our office through email or by text message.  Please click on the link 15 minutes before your appointment time to enter the virtual “waiting room” for your provider.

Is a telemedicine visit a “real” visit?
Yes, during this time most telemedicine visits are covered by health insurance, and through the visit you and your provider will create a treatment plan for your child.  In some cases the provider may ask you to help with examination of your child (obtain the child’s current weight, look at specific areas of the body, for example).  Your provider may recommend a future in-person visit for examination or testing in some cases.

How do I schedule a telemedicine visit?
Please call our office to schedule your visit.  Our schedulers will provide details and collect further information needed to schedule the visit.
